SUCH expensive display of patriotism of chartering an aircraft to honour national assignment is rare in Nigeria and with Nigerian millionaire footballers.
Such stories always and usually comes from Liberia with George Opong Weah either paying the bonuses of his team-mates and offering to foot their transportation and accommodation bills. Nigerian footballers, instead, were known for threatening not to lace their boots over unpaid flight ticket refunds or unpaid bonuses. But Joseph Yobo, John Utaka and Dele Ayenugba have re-written history by that singular act of chartering an aircraft from London to join their colleagues in Tunis for the all-important match against the Carthage Eagles.
NFF Spokesman, Ademola Olajire praised them for setting standards for others and promised that the football house would look into the possibility of refunding them.
“It’s tremendous and we salute them as heroes. The NFF are impressed and I know that when they meet, they will look at the possibility of refunding themâ€.
