UNILORIN yet to receive judgment on re-instated lecturers

Ilorin — The authorities of the University of Ilorin, Kwara  State, yesterday, said they were yet to receive the original copy of the details of the Supreme Court ruling that re-instated five of the 49-sacked lecturers of the institution.

The five re-instated lecturers were Dr. Taiwo Oloruntoba-Oju, Dr. Debo Ajayi, Adeyinka Bamuwo, Sola Ademiluka and Olu Olugbara.

The lecturers about 49 including ASUU leaders  were sacked by the administration of Professor Shuaib Oba Abdulraheem about 10 years ago for participating in a strike ordered by the national body.

The court also ordered the management of the institution to re-instate the affected five lecturers and pay all their outstanding salaries and allowances from 2001 to date.

However, speaking with newsmen in Ilorin, yesterday, on the development, the Director of Information and Protocol of the university, Mr. Marfuz Adedimeji, said the management of the university would have no other option than to implement the ruling as soon as the copy of the Supreme Court judgment was received.
