PORT HARCOURT—The Rivers State Police Command has assured the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) of necessary security in the task of delivering on its mandate to the people of the region.
Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Bala Hassan, gave the assurance when he paid a courtesy call on the Acting Managing Director of the Commission, Power Ziakede Aginighan.
He said the police was aware of the developmental challenges facing the commission and would do everything possible to ensure that the enabling peace, through adequate security, was provided for the delivery of its projects and programmes.
“I know the enormous challenges you are facing in the Niger Delta and for you to do your work, you need peaceâ€, the police boss said. Mr. Hassan commended the NDDC for being alive to its responsibilities, promising that the police was willing at all times to guarantee the commission sustainable peace in the day-to-day running of its activities.
Responding, the Acting Managing Director of NDDC, Pastor Power Ziakede Aginighan, thanked the police commissioner for the visit, pointing out that it will further strengthen the bond of relationship between the commission and the police.
He stated that the NDDC was resolute in ensuring that it renders unhindered service to the people of the region in line with the master plan and the seven-point agenda of the president.
Pastor Aginighan assured that the commission was prepared to collaborate with the police for more effective delivery of projects and programmes in the region.
