WARRI — YOUTHS of the Niger Delta have been enjoined to espouse the principles of good moral virtue and utilitarian disposition as their contributions to the much desired peaceful atmosphere in the Niger Delta.
Speaking during the presentation of relief materials to displaced persons as a result of the current military actions at Gbaramatu in the Warri South-West Local Government Council Area of Delta State, Mr. Daniel Reyenieju, who represents the Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, appealed to youths of the region to avoid all acts of violence and illegality that could make the region a flash-point.
The lawmaker, who was represented by his Senior Special Assistant, Mr. Otimeyin Orugbo, noted that the current incident that had precipitated the present crisis was most unfortunate and tragic, given the collateral damage it has wrecked on the people and the area.
Reyenieju commiserated with the refugees and appealed to them to see their present tragedy as a temporary phase in their lives.
He called on well-meaning Nigerians to be their brothers and sisters’ keepers, particularly “in their hours of needs,â€urging the military to be humane in all their actions so that the innocent should not suffer.
Receiving the donations, the Leader of the Legislative Arm of the Warri South-West council  and also a member of the Welfare Committee for the displaced, Mrs. Rose Tulu, thanked Reyenieju for his timely response and goodwill.
She appealed to him to use his good offices to prevail on the Federal Government to withdraw the military so that the displaced persons could go back to their communities.
