One killed, others injured over witchcraft allegation

KIRIKASAMMA(Jigawa) — One Hajia Fatima Talatu Muhammad Daguro was reported killed and several others severely injured when the case of suspected witchcraft turned brutal in Matattarar-Alhazai Village, Kirikasamma local government of Jigawa State recently.

Vanguard  gathered that the deceased Hajia Talatu Muhammad was the daughter of a renowned politician in the area, Alhaji Muhammad Daguro, the state Vice Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Before her death last Monday, the late Hajia Talatu Muhammad, who had been sick for a long time, reportedly told her relatives that she saw in her dream one Isa Umar, 45, and Ibrahim Muhammad, 47, with knives trying to kill her.

It was further revealed that Hajiya Fatima died at Darga Clinic, Hadejia shortly after she revealed her dream to her relatives and shortly after her death, her relatives went on the rampage looking for the two accused persons to kill.

The irate family met Malam Ibrahim Muhamad at his meat selling joint and attacked him with dangerous weapons.

Vanguard gathered that Isa was rescued by a police patrol team and rushed to the hospital while Malam Ibrahim Muhammad on the other hand, who was also attacked by the aggrieved family sustained minor injuries on his head and he was admitted at Gumel General Hospital .

Further investigation also revealed that the aggrieved family that erected road blocks along the main entrance of Matattarar-Alhazai village, Kirikasamma local government, in protest over the alleged witchcraft matter attacked an official vehicle of the Police zonal officer’s in-charge of Kirikasamma local government and had its rear and front windscreens  smashed.
