PDP chieftain urges mothers to check youths’ immoral dressing

By Festus Ahon
UGHELLI—MOTHERS have been urged to inculcate family values into the society by championing the campaign against immoral dressing among the female youths and help government stem the menace so that the world be a better place for all.

Giving the advice, former chairman of PDP in Delta State, Mr. Emmanuel Ogidi, during the investiture of patrons and matrons ceremony of Virtuous Women Association and the launching of its maiden Almanac, stressed the need for mothers to be shinning examples to the youths.

Ogidi advised those who were chosen for investiture as patrons and matrons to take advantage of the opportunity and contribute to the development of mankind.

Earlier in her address, the President of the Association, Mrs. N. Okumakube, said the association was formed to make a difference in the lives of those who needed assistance most.

Her words: “As the name implies, we are young women with a vision of developing our immediate society by assisting the less privileged. The picture we see everyday is that of a few living in comfort, while the majority, particularly the needy, cannot afford even the least comfort that qualifies them as human beings.

“Cases of child abandonment, prostitution, neglect of the childless and lack of care of the widows are now very common in the society.

“No doubt, our society is in transition, with its attendant disruption of traditional values. And the most pronounced is the fast disappearance of the African communal life, which emphasizes co-operation, empathy and strong inter-human relationship”.
