YOLA—Stakeholders drawn from the North-East geo-political zone of the country on Nigerian Vision 2020 are brainstorming in Yola at a workshop to collate imputes for the implementation of the vision.
The forum is also to receive reports of states in the zone of their preparedness for the final report to be submitted by the technical committee to the Federal Government.
Declaring the workshop open, Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Barrister James Ngillari, observed that if vision 2020 is fully implemented, Nigeria will be among the key players in the global economy and political arena.
He stated that the nation’s economic potentials in terms of human and natural resources are enormous, stressing the need for the full implementation and actualisation of the potentials for the benefit of the present and future generations.
Ngillari noted that the building of institutional framework for the development of Vision 2020 is on the right track in the state, hoping that the same positive development is applicable in all the states in the sub-region.
He charged states in the zone and other stakeholders at the workshop to come up with a purposeful proposals and suggestions that will lead to the full implementation of the economic blue print.
Alhaji Dogara Shehu, who represented the Secretary of the National Planning Commission, called on the participants to make meaningful and purposeful contribution to the commission in an effort to move the country forward.
