Maersk Line introduces direct shipping services to Nigeria

Global leading container  carrier, Maersk Line, has introduced direct shipping services into Nigeria’s ports even as  many  other major shipping  lin es     ha ve  scaled down their product offering in Nigeria; consequent upon increasing operational difficulties due to the global economic downturn.

But in a bold move and a mark of strong confidence in the Nigerian economy, Maersk Line is bringing relief to its Nigerian Customers through this direct services.

Maersk Line’s new, fast and direct service into  Apapa  is from Shanghai, Ningbo, Nansha & Hong Kong straight to Benin, Togo and Nigeria.

“This new product offering eliminates trans-shipment and delays and reduces freight cost to the Nigerian importer”, a statement from the company’s Media Adviser, Bolaji Akinola stated.

The statement further stated that the new weekly direct sailings by Maersk Line vessels into Nigeria which commences from June 2009 offers  fast  transit times and competitive prices.
