KANO—Nigerian may in not too distance future have insight on a the intrigues and power play that characterized the annulment of June 12 election in 1993 by the despotic regime of Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, as one of principal actor of the saga, Alhaji Bashir Tofa hinted of a plan to document his own account of the sad Nigerian history.
Alhaji Bashir Tofa who was the standard bearer of the defunct National Republican Convention NRC told Journalist in Kano yesterday during the pre conference presentation of 8 books he authored however made it clear that the topic will be treated as a chapter on a larger book titled . ‘In search of Unity’.
“I am writing a book titled ‘in search of unity’, and June 12 will be treated as a chapter under that book and that’s all, Tofa made a veil reference to one of the significant incident of our tortuous journey to democracy in Kano yesterday.
Bashir Tofa during the interactive session said June 12 election has further reinforced his avowed position on the controversial political subject in the country that favours to consign it to dustbin of history.
“The annulment of the June 12 election described by pundits as a watershed in the country march to nationhood still dominate national discourse 16 years on while most of the principal actors have shy away from letting out the reasons that led to the pan Nigerian mandate presumably won by late philanthropist, MKO Abiola.â€
Tofa whose 8 books is due for public presentation Saturday to coincide with his birthday were all centred on science fiction, short stories that derives its idea and inspirations from existing intellectual properties.
Tofa books written in Hausa language were part of his collections of 18 published titles since he ventured into the scholarly circle decades ago.
He expressed support for the adoption of local language as means of imparting knowledge on our youth, stressing that most country that made progress in sciences resorted to local dialect for maximum benefit.
