FIFA gives Falode Confederations Cup job

World football   governing body, FIFA, has appointed Nigerian media diva, Aisha Falode, as a Venue Media Officer for the upcoming FIFA Confederations Cup tournament holding in the Republic of South Africa.

Falode, ace broadcaster and a Member of the CAF Media Committee, has been assigned to work as Media Officer in one of the four venues that will host the forerunner to next year’s FIFA World Cup – the first time FIFA’s flagship tournament will be staged on African soil.

“I am delighted to be appointed for this top –drawer tournament and I will as usual, do my best to justify the confidence reposed in me by FIFA and do my country proud”, said Falode.

Dated 21st May, 2009, and signed by Rich Mkhondo, the Chief Communications Officer for the Organizing Committee, the letter read, inter alia: “This letter serves to confirm your appointment as Press Officer to the 2010 FIFA World Cup Organizing Committee South Africa for the FIFA Confederations Cup South Africa 2009 with effect from 14 June until 28 June 2009”.

The FIFA Confederations Cup, which will serve as the dress rehearsal for next year’s World Cup finals, will have eight teams participating from Sunday. The champions of the different continents will join hosts South Africa at the two –week fiesta. The others are world champions Italy, Brazil, Spain, Egypt (the African champions), New Zealand, Iraq and the United States of America.

The screen diva will organize regular flow of communication and participate in the writing of editorial material, and also organize installation of facilities and services to the media in any of the four venues she is assigned.
Aisha Falode, one of the most recognizable faces in the Nigeria media industry, is also the Chairman of the Media Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation.
