Expert advises on aircraft servicing

By Demola Akinyemi

Ilorin—The Managing Director, Chief Executive of Med-View Airlines, Alhaji Muniru Bankole, has tasked the Federal Government to show keen interest in the maintenance of  all the private and commercial aircrafts so as to reduce the chances of aircraft mishap in the country.

Bankole, in an interview with journalists in Ilorin, yesterday, noted that the problems dogging the industry was as a result of poor handling of the air industry by Federal Govern-ment which was recently compounded by the current global economic meltdown.

“The Federal Government should show interest in the maintenance of all the aircraft that are in business in Nigeria and this is imperative. The government has not done this and it is sad.

“What obtains in other developing countries is that the central government regulates the air business particularly in the area of maintenance. This would drastically reduce the chances of air mishap in the country,” he explained.

Already, Governor Bukola Saraki of Kwara State has  appointed Med-View Airline as the official carrier of the state for the 2009 Umrah (lesser Hajj).
