CIIN inaugurates Delta State branch executive

THE Chartered Insurance   Institute of Nigeria CIIN has installed a new executive team for the Delta State Branch of the Institute headed by Mr Leke Ojabanjo as the chairman.

The Deputy President of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria, Mr Sunny Adeda who conducted the investiture un-behalf of the president said the investiture ceremony provided a veritable ground for reinventing the branch machinery of the CIIN Warri Branch as well as ensuring that leadership opportunities present themselves to willing and able members of the insurance profession who are poised to channel their energies in the right direction. He said it is also a demonstration of the commitment of the institutes governing council to the growth and development of a strong and virile branch network necessary for maintaining member’s loyalty to their chosen profession.

“Let me reiterate my call to all concerned for a new spirit of corporate responsibility in fostering human capital development and thus uplifting the standard of our chosen profession”. Distinguished colleagues, no effort is ever too much in ensuring that our profession continues to occupy its rightful position in the National economy, Adeda advised.

The newly elected chairman of the Warri Branch of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria, Leke Ojabanjo in his remark during his inauguration said one of his cardinal objectives would be to bring the activities of fake insurers to a stop.

“waging war against touts who falsify insurance certificates is a war we must all fight to eradicate, as we are ready to support the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA), the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) and the insurance industry in this war” Business that would have ordinarily come to insurance companies are hijacked by these touts parading fake certificates in our various motor licensing offices and denying companies income and the general public who fall victims from compensation, Ojabanjo.

He stated that the Warri institute will carry out enlightenment campaign to sensitize the general public through television and radio of the need to avoid patronizing touts who are issuing fake covers. Other targets of his administration included boosting the branch membership through awareness creation; promoting continuous training and retraining of practitioners.

; development of a chapter library to encourage readership and preparations for the CIIN professional examinations; organisation of lectures and tutorials in order to guarantee success in the examinations of the Institute by the branch members as well as campaign against touts who falsify insurance policies to the detriment of the Industry and the public.
