Briton released after nine months abduction

THIRTY FIVE year old  Briton, Matthew Maguire who was abducted about nine months ago regained his freedom from militants in the Niger Delta region yesterday.

He was released at a spot in the state at about 3am before the SSS personnel went to pick him. Sources said he was later handed over to his employers,  Hydro Dive. Security sources said Maguire looked strong, hale and healthy. “I admire his courage.

He had to stay that long with his captors. He told us that when he and the other hostages were asked to choose between themselves who should be released first, he gave the other guy being his senior the opportunity to be released first”, a security source said.

Maguire reportedly denied even telling his captors the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta, (MEND) to remain in their custody.
