Bank manager kidnapped in Benin


THE bank manager of a first generation bank in Benin, was yesterday abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers. Sunday Vanguard learnt that the bank manager was abducted in front of his residence at Airport Road, and taken to an unknown destination.

The ugly incident is coming on the heels of the abduction and the subsequent release of a staff of the University of Benin , Mrs. Erameh, by kidnappers.

The kidnappers were yet to establish contact with the family of the abducted banker at press time. Spokesman for the Edo State Police Command, ASP Peter Ogboi, confirmed the incident on telephone but declined to give details. In the case of  Mrs Erameh, a secretary in the School of Dentistry of the University of Benin, It was gathered that she was abducted while taking her children to school in front of her house in Benin last Monday

Sources said the gunmen who abducted her did not touch the children. The kidnappers allegedly demanded N10 million from the husband of Erameh, said to be a branch manager of a new generation bank in Benin. She was released on Wednesday.
