Aspire sets up 100 centers in Nigeria

In a bid to discover and  nurture young talents, the Aspire Football Dream (Nigeria) Project has set up 100 centers  across the 36 States of the federation and Abuja, the centers will come alive from June 28th, 2009.

The project which has eight Nigerian players already in Doha, Qatar at the Aspire Academy for Sports Excellence, is designed for players of 18 years (that is players born in 1996) and will be supervised by the coordinators, who have been specifically designated to oversee each center.

According to the Director , Aspire Football Dreams, Nigeria, Samuel Ahmedu, Col (rtd) registration closes on 10th September, 2009.  Players will be  tested to ascertain their skills by foreign coaches, this will commence on September 20th through 10th October at each center.

“Any co-ordinator whose ward is picked, goes with him to Qatar. Any player picked, the players will have the opportunity of his parents visiting him at the camp twice a year.

“Top 50 camp for the best 50 players selected from the centers will take place in Lagos from 14th to 18th October, 2009,” he said.

However,  the best players will be selected to participate in a TV reality show  in Qatar and also remain on scholarship at the Aspire Academy for Sports Excellence. Equipment for this event was   supplied free of charge by Nike and registration is free for intending participants.
