Anambra Assembly querries revaluation of Abagana-Oye Nimo road project

ONITSHA—The  Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Works and Transport has queried the revaluation of the cost of the less than 3km Abagana- Oye Nimo road project from N84m to N301m.

Chairman of the Committee, Chief Idu Emeka and his team who visited the project site as part of their legislative oversight function, said the astronomical revalue of the contract sum was a mere waste of public fund given the quality of the work done on the project.

The contract was first awarded to Ave Maria and Impressor Nig. Ltd in March 2006 by the Ngige administration. and was expected to be completed within few weeks.

However, the present administration of Mr Peter Obi had upon an RETC by the contractor and the consultant,  revalued the cost to N181m and later to N301m in 2008.

Speaking to reporters after inspecting the project, the lawmaker described the job done by the contractor as not only unduly delayed, but a shoddy one.
