4 die, others wounded in Kogi auto crash

KONTONKARFI(KOGI) — FOUR persons were feared dead while several others sustained serious injuries when two luxurious buses collided  along the Kotonkarfi road on the Murtala bridge, yesterday.

State Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Yomi Asaniyan, said the injured persons have been taken to the

Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja and the dead deposited at the morgue of the Ankuri Hospital, Lokoja.

An eyewitness account narrated that the accident was  occurred when one of the luxurious buses with registration number SM632 ABC, belonging to Best way Transport Company and suspected to be coming from Abuja, attempted to overtake an up-coming vehicle and in the process rammed into a Marco-polo bus belonging to Ekeson Bros Transport whose registration had been removed, killing four people on the spot.

The FRSC Commander said two of the victims suspected to be drivers were trapped into the buses.

As at press time, two of the  victims were still trapped in the vehicles when Vanguard visited the scene.
