Dr. Singabele who was recently recalled from a suspension slammed on him by the NFF Board for voicing his opinion on some football issues, was subtle this time around when asked his opinion on the Eagles chances in the Tunisian tie, only calling on Nigerians to pray for  the senior national team.

“The only thing the team need now is prayer. The team is good, World Cup qualifiers are generally difficult. With God on our  side and hard work they will qualify,” he said. Stressing that the team do not need any form of negative criticism now.

The Eagles defeated the Harambee Stars of Kenya 3-0  in a match that attracted comments from sports administrators and football fans alike.

Many are of the view that coach Shaibu Amodu needs to do more work on the team if they are to keep the hope of qualifying alive while some others called for a consortium of coaches to back the Edo-born gaffer.

One of the visitors to the Vanguard website by name Mariam said “This Eagles are not World Cup materials at all. People will die of heart attack if they do not qualify for the World Cup. We need Samson Siasia in this team. At least everybody will agree with me that Siasia understands the boys better and only he can get us to glory, not the present coaches.”

Another visitor simply called Steve said “We surely do not have a World Cup team. We don’t even have a Nations Cup team. This idea of if you are not playing in Europe, you don’t play for the Super Eagles, is rubbish. Our local players with a good coach can beat that Kenyan team 5-0. Amodu cannot and will not deliver the World Cup ticket.”
