Ibadan—GOVERNOR Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi were among over five thousand people who converged to pray for quick recovery of President Muhammadu Buhari and the country’s ailing economy.
The interfaith prayer session took place at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba.
Many politicians in the state disregarded their affiliations to attend the prayer session.
The prayer was centred on the economy, security, peace, progress and unity of the nation and quick recovery by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Apostle Sunday Popoola, of the Word Communication Ministries, WOCOM, offered prayer on behalf of Christians while Sheik Muhideen Ajani-Bello, a renowned Islamic cleric admonished Nigerians not to lose hope in the present political administration.

Governor Ajimobi in his remarks said; “This event is organised for three reasons. First, it is to appreciate God for all He has done for us so that He can do more. Secondly, we are here to seek God’s guidance as to how to lead this nation. And thirdly, it is to pray for the sound health of our President, vice President, leaders of the National Assembly and all our leaders both at the National and state level.”
“I pray that the country will continue to make progress. The prayer is not for Buhari alone but for all of us aleaders and the led. It is not fair for anybody to wish another person dead.
“Nigeria is getting better. The crude oil price has increased tremendously in the international market and I know for sure that within the next three to six months, things will have improved lot more. Let us all just work more together.”
A Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Relations, Mr. Siyanbade said “As a developing country, we are bedevilled with many vices. The country is faced with the problem of religious insurgencies in the North East of the country which had claimed many lives, kidnapping for ransom is very rampant in all parts of the country, economic sabotage and economic recession are all affecting social, political and economic life of the country”.
Traditional rulers at the event included: the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, Oba Samuel Adegbola, Eleruwa of Eruwa, and Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji who was represented by some of his chiefs.
