MAIDUGURI—As the Chairman of Kala Balge Local Government Area, Alhaji Babangida, claimed that over 250 persons were buried after the accidental air raid on the internally displaced persons, IDPs’ camp in Borno State, it has been gathered that families of some victims are asking for compensation.
Alhaji Babangida claimed that more than 250 persons were buried after the bombardment, contrary to claims in official quarters that only 54 people were killed.
Meanwhile, yesterday, it was gathered that families of some victims killed are already asking for compensation in view of the hardship being faced by widows and orphans whose husbands and bread winners were killed in the incident.
Several people were feared dead after a military plane mistakenly dropped a bomb inside the Rann IDPs camp in Borno State last week.
The Rann IDP camp in Kala-Balge Local Government Area caters for thousands of persons displaced by Boko Haram.
The military spokesperson, Brigadier General Rabe Abubakar, explained then that it was an error that the military deeply regretted.
He explained that soldiers got information of movement of Boko Haram members and deployed ground troops and air cover to tackle the terrorists.
It was the air support that mistakenly dropped the bomb, he said.
