Osun govt to observe 2016 World Toilet Day

On this year's World Toilet Day with the theme: "Toilets-A Place for Peace" Reckitt, makers of Harpic, has reiterated its commitment to promoting clean and hygienic toilets for all Nigerians.

Osun state Government in collaboration with the European Union-Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Reform Programme (EU-WSSSRP-II) and UNICEF will on Tuesday (November 22nd, )celebrate “2016 World Toilet Day”  with the theme, “Toilets and Jobs” at Araromi-Owu Middle School Playing Ground,  Araromi-Owu in Ayedaade Local Government Area of the State.

This is contained in a press release issued  by the Project  Coordinator, Water Resources, Rural Development and Community Affairs, Engr  Adelere Oriolowo.

According to him, “sanitation is a global development priority adding  that toilets play a crucial role in creating a strong economy, as well as  improving health and protecting people’s safety and dignity, particularly women’s and girls’.”

The Project Coordinator noted that the activities to mark the first  ever epoch making event, has commenced by the State Task Group on Sanitation  (STGS), set up by the Rural Water and Environmental Sanitation Agency  (RUWESA) through monitoring exercises of Open Defecation Free (ODF)  communities in Ayedaade and Odo-Otin Local Governments.
