Owerri—The wife of the Imo State Governor, Nkechi Rochas Okorocha, has called on those in authority not to neglect the plight of widows in the country, just as she said that more than 200 widows in the State have received houses.
She stated this yesterday in Owerri, through a release issued by Mr Sam Onwuemeodo, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Rochas Okorocha.
The release quoted that the two-bed room bungalows cut across the 27 local government areas of the State, which was under the “SHE NEEDS A ROOF PROGRAMME” of the wife of the governor.
According to the release, one of the beneficiaries died before the handover ceremony.
“As part of her ongoing effort to put smiles on the faces of widows, three beneficiaries; Mrs. Roseline Igwe from Ohaji/Egbema LGA, Mrs Rosemary Ebere from Owerri Municipal and the first son of Mrs Grace Iheanacho from Owerri-West who died before the handover ceremony received keys to their bungalows.
“Nneoma Okorocha has built more than two hundred of such houses for widows and other indigent women across the twenty seven Local Governments in the state. One of the best ways to honour God is by putting smiles on the faces of people especially the less privileged.”
