A 35-year-old apprentice, Nzubechukwu Mbamara, who allegedly stole his employer’s N3 million cash, was on Wednesday docked at an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
Mbamara, who resides at No. 18, Omo-Odofin St., Festac, Lagos, pleaded not guilty to one-count charge of stealing.
The prosecutor, ASP Eshiet Eshiet, said that Mbamara, committed the alleged offence between January and October at the Trade fair, Ojo, Lagos.
“Mbamara collected the said sum from a customer who bought goods from the shop where he was staying with his employer.
“He, however, ran to Nnewi, Anambra, where the Police apprehended him,’’ Eshiet said.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 285 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The Magistrate, Mr W. B. Balogun, granted the accused bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
He said that one of the sureties must be a relation of the accused.
The case was adjourned till Nov. 25 for mention.
