The Parish Priest of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Gwarimpa, Abuja, Rev. Fr. Willy Ojukwu, has urged the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to implement the report of the 2014 National Conference, saying it was key to Nigeria’s unity and development.

Ojukwu, made the call in his homily at the Mass on Sunday.

According to him, confab’s report contained “valuable recommendations” that constituted the bedrock of the country.

“The Federal Government should implement the report of the National Conference. I urge the government to do so now because of the importance of its content. In that document, I am sure, lies the solution to most of the problems and major issues in the country. Now is the time for the government to look at the report and implement its recommendations,” he said.

The Catholic priest decried the level of corruption in the country, saying that many Nigerians were deprived and in hardship amid affluence and wanton corruption among the elite.

He urged those in power to have the fear of God, adding that leadership was about service and humility, “which has continued to lack largely in the governance in the country”.

Ojukwu prayed for peace in the country and urged Nigerians to continue to be prayerful and support the present administration’s effort to rid the country of corruption.

He also called on parents to inculcate good virtues in their children “so that they will be better citizens and leaders when they grow up”.
