Mfon Udoh
Enyimba of Aba striker Mfon Udoh has expressed his desire to help his team win the 2016 CAF Champions League with his goals after he fired a sensational hat trick against Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia in the second round, first leg cracker played at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt on Sunday.
Etoile du Sahel have been very fearsome on the continent after winning the 2015 CAF Confederation Cup and analysts were of the opinion that Enyimba would struggle against the Red Devils at home.
But the visitors’ rout began inside the opening 10 minutes when Udoh got the curtain raiser after Joseph Osadaiye was fouled in the 18-yard box before scoring two more goals in the second half in the 57th and 80th minutes to ensure that the Nigerian representatives would be going to Tunis with a good cushion.
Speaking after the match in Port Harcourt, Udoh revealed that he was excited at scoring the goals that made the difference against Etoile du Sahel while stressing that the underdogs term labelled them before the start of the match helped them to calm down to teach the Tunisian side some football lesson. “I am excited by the goals I scored [on Sunday]. It was nice to win well against as we were regarded as underdogs before the game. We are happy about this victory and we will do everything possible to ensure that we protect the advantage in Tunisia,” Udoh said.
He said he was not keen about ending the 2016 CAF Champions League as the highest scorer but that it would be his personal wish to ensure that Enyimba win the lucrative African club competition.
The former Akwa United striker has scored seven goals in the CAF Champions League this year from five matches.
