THE National Working Committee (NWC) of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Wednesday, suspended its Borno State Chairman, Alhaji Baba Basharu, over what it described as his involvement in alleged anti-party activities.
A statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, said “the NWC of the PDP took the decision after preliminary hearing on reports of various activities inimical to the progress of the party, especially flouting the provisions of article 58 (1), (b), (c), (f) and (h) of the PDP constitution.”
Metuh, who said Basharu’s suspension was in line with the relevant provisions of the PDP Constitution on disciplinary procedures, however stated that accordingly, the suspended chairman has been referred to the National Disciplinary Committee for appropriate action in line with the provisions of the constitution of the party.
