KOWA drags INEC to tribunal for unlawful exclusion in Adamawa poll

The KOWA party in Adamawa has dragged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before the National/State House of Assembly Election Tribunal sitting in Yola for unlawful exclusion of its candidate, Mr Kwamoti Laori.

Kwamoti was excluded in the Feb. 13, 2016, re-run for Numan/Demsa/Lamurde Federal Constituency which the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Mrs Talatu Yohanna, won.

The matter, which came up for mentioned at the Tuesday sitting of the tribunal presided over by Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu, has been adjourned to April 20.

The party which sued INEC, APC and Talatu as first, second and third respondents, respectively, wanted the tribunal to nullify the election on the ground that its nominee (Laori) was unlawfully excluded.

The party also prayed the tribunal to order fresh re-run with Laori as the candidate of KOWA party. (NAN)
