Ekweremadu
A Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship aspirant in Edo State, Dr Solomon Edebiri, has said that he is a symbol of the rejuvenated PDP as documented by the Senator Ike Ekweremandu report with the target for a people-based positive change in the state.
Speaking in Benin after attending the marriage of the daughter of one of the party’s leaders, Chief Edebiri said he is an apostle of the Ekweremadu report which is set to make the party people-focused.
He said: “I believe strongly that democratic governance is all about the people, it is for the people and by the people. The people are supposed to be the owners of government while those in offices are employees.
“This whole idea of making politics and governance people-based should also be reflected in the process leading to the nomination and election of individuals into office. The process should be free and fair and left in the hands of the people to make their choice without undue manipulation.”
Edebiri who preached peaceful and violence-free processes in regime transitions, noted that the Ekweremandu report which will be ratified at the party’s national convention later this year in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, underscores the way the party can help build the country and earn the love of the people through internal democracy and delivery of good governance.
