TARABA Hurricanes Basketball Club got more than they bargained for in the ongoing Zenith Bank Women Basketball League as they were beaten Monday roundly 104-17, by their more illustrious opponents, First Bank Basketball Club of Lagos in Asaba, Delta State.
First Bank, who are yet to lose a game since the first phase in Abuja, were at their best as they took control of the match from start to finish. The Elephant Girls, as First Bank are called by their teeming fans, showed better understanding and tore apart the hapless ladies from Taraba.
In other games played at the same venue yesterday, champions, Dolphins defeated AHIP 77-54while Immigration defeated Oluyole Babes 38-36 in a low scoring game that could have gone either way. FCT Angels beat Nasarawa Amazons 38-28 to record another victory. First Bank’s coach, Peter Ahmedu noted that the latest victory was a testimony to the good work put in by the coaching crew and the players.
Coach Ochuko Okorogun of Dolphins stated that it is difficult to run over teams as most of them have become better, putting up splendid performances in Asaba.
