…to hold seminar in Lagos, Warri

Genotype Foundation, a charity, non- governmental organisation, has called on Nigerian youths to know their genotype/ blood group before going into marriage to reduces cases of sickle cell disorder in the society.
The group, according to its Executive Director, Doris Gbemiloye, is working to help children and young people to know their Haemoglobin genotype/blood group Rhesus factor/ transfusion through screening, in order that they may take necessary action to prevent the occurrence of children with sickle cell disorder, and the issue of Rhesus factor in blood grouping.
“In addition, we support people living with sickle cell disorder to have appropriate access to the right medical assistance and other provisions for their welfare, on monthly routine drugs, free blood for transfusion, among others.”
She added that the foundation will, during this year’s International Women’s Day, reach out to her people in Warri, Delta State, with a seminar on: Sickle Cell Disorder, Haemoglobin Genotype/ Blood Group & The Nigerian Woman, The End Reciever.”
She called for support from well meaning organisations and individuals to raise about N1.5 milliom needed for the seminar and the free screening that the body wishes to undertake during the event.
