Iwu: We’ll not let Nigeria down

Nigeria under-23 and Heartland goalkeeper Emmanuel Iwu said the team will not let Nigeria down at the CAF under-23 AFCON.IWU

Iwu, who helped Heartland to a respectable finish in the concluded NPFL season made the cut for the tournament despite not being part of the qualifying series for Senegal 2015.

“I’m happy to have made the team for the tournament and I’m also grateful for the opportunity to serve my country,” Iwu.

“We are in Senegal for business and we want to put smiles on the faces of Nigerians.

“My message to our fans is we will not let them down, we are going to make them proud.”

Nigeria are in Group B of the Caf Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations alongside Mali, Algeria and Egypt.

Also coach Samson Siasia assured that the task of qualifying Nigeria for the Olympics will be achieved. Adding that the boys are determined to work hard.

“We are here to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. We have to train hard and make sure the players play to instructions. All teams deserve to be here. For us (Nigeria), we are tactically sound and know the kind of opposition to expect.”
