Uyo—AKWA Ibom State Government has expressed regret over the death of a former governor of old Cross River State, Senator Donald Etiebet.

In a statement, Wednesday, in Uyo, the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr Aniekan Umanah, said late  Etiebet served as governor of the then Cross River State from October 1, 1983 to December 31, 1983.

According to the commissioner, Etiebet’s period in office as governor was disrupted by a military coup that ousted the Second Republic.

Umanah described him as a lawyer and committed patriot, statesman, community leader and an invaluable asset to the state.
