AKURE—FOUR suspected kidnappers have been arrested by detectives in Ondo State Police Command for attempting to abduct a 26-year-old man, Idris Sule, and demand for N10 million ramson.
The suspects, Dua Audu, Mohammed Seriki, Audu Metua and Adamu Ibrahim, were reportedly arrested in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
Vanguard gathered that the suspects during a telephone conversation with the victim, demanded for N10m to halt his abduction.
It was gathered that the suspects threatened to kidnap the victim if the money was not paid within a stipulated period.
Reports had it that the suspects must have been given the would-be victim’s telephone number by one of his aides, with the hope of threatening him to cough out the money.
Contacted, the police image maker, Femi Joseph, said the suspects were currently in police detention and would soon be arraigned in court.
According to him, the victim of the attempted abduction reported the telephone conversation which ensued between him and the suspects to the police.
He said the suspects were arrested through the telephone line they used to communicate and negotiate with the victim.
The police scribe assured that other fleeing suspects would soon be apprehended and charged to court.
