ABUJA – AS the former governor of Rivers State and ministerial nominee, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, appears before the Senate Thursday for screening, a member of the Senate Committee on Ethics and Public Petitions, Obinna Ogba, has denied allegation that the committee was against his confirmation.
He equally debunked insinuation that the delay in releasing the report of investigation on Amaechi, which resulted in the delay in his screening was as a result of sharp division among members of the committee on the report.
Reacting in an interview, Wednesday, with Vanguard, in Abuja, Senator Ogba, who represents Ebony Central in the National Assembly, under the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, insisted that there was no disagreement among members of the committee.
“Why do u you people have so much interest in Amaechi’s issue? The point is that we don’t have any misunderstanding among ourselves and there is no reason for that.
“We are intact, we are united, our interest as a committee is Nigeria, we stand for anything that will move this country forward. We are not interested in whether somebody is in party A or party B or from so and so state, “he said.
