Abuja—The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested Yakubu Dankaba, alias Yakubu Hamisu; Yahaya Baba and Usman Abdulhakeem, alias Chairman, at Area 3, Garki District, Abuja, for their alleged involvement in a N20 million fraud.
The suspects had allegedly posed as operatives of EFCC with the aim of extorting N20 million from the FCT Water Board Director.
They had written a letter to the director, threatening to investigate him for alleged fraud amounting to millions of Naira.
They, however, offered to help the director stop the pending investigation if he could part with N20 million.
However, suspecting that he was about to be swindled, the director alerted EFCC, which swung into action and caught the three suspects while they were waiting at a chosen location for the payment of N20 million by the director.
Spokesman for the commission, Mr. Wilson, said the three men would be charged to court as soon as investigations were concluded by the agency.
