Excitement beckons as football fans are set for another pre-season thrill with Brila FM’s Wave Ur Banner , holding August 7, 2015 at Blue Roof event centre, Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos.
Held annually at the start of the European football season, the event, in its seventh edition is also billed to hold in Onitsha, July 31st and Abuja, August 7th. And in response to the clamour by fans for more, the station has now expanded the event into a four-times-a-year affair, giving fans the opportunity to come together at strategic periods of the season as the organisation now holds the Boxing Day Edition on December 26, and the Clasico and Victory Party editions in 2016.
Boasting a glamorous history that had A-list artistes like Omawunmi, Wande Coal, Olamide perform at different times, the show will this year be headlined by superstars like Davido, a staunch Chelsea fan, Pasuma and Timi Dakolo, both Arsenal supporters.
KCEE and Harry Song among others are also billed to excite soccer fans while comedians like AY, Akpororo, Still Ringing and First Born will add spikes of laughter to the sports spectacle.
Dr. Larry Izamoje, veteran sportscaster and founder of Sports Radio 88.9 Brila FM in a recent statement, drew a connection between the event and the station’s corporate strategy.
“The station’s corporate mantra is to continually add value in its services to its teeming followers usually through continually enriched content offerings; a noble strategy that Wave Ur Banner consolidates as a platform that brings fans together.
Continuing, the frontline sports entrepreneur also illustrated the strategic alignment of Wave Ur Banner with Brila Fm’s corporate direction by pointing out that “the station brought Football Live in the 2014/2015 football season to give live, eyewitness accounts of matches from key European football capitals to the fans, many of whom will also be attending the event”.
Project Manager, Jide Ojo sees football fans as the epicenter of the ripples of excitement generated by the event.
According to him “Wave Ur Banner provides us a unique opportunity to celebrate fans who themselves regularly devote enormous physical, mental and financial resources celebrating their preferred football clubs, and in fact, footballers, sponsors, administrators and all other stakeholders cannot live in a world without supporters.”
