Buhari in Katsina

LAGOS—President Muhammadu Buhari has been told that to properly position the country in the struggle for African liberation and to lead a renewed pan-Africanism, he must think global and act local.
Mr. Issa Aremu, Chairman, Industrial Global Union, Sub-Sahara Africa, made the call at an event to mark Africa Day, May 29, by National Union of Textile, Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria, NUTGTWN, in Lagos.
Aremu, who is also the General Secretary of NUTGTWN and factional Vice President of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, said: “Buhari must, however, with equal energy, think and act African and indeed global.”
He said now was the chance for the President to make history, adding “late General Murtala Muhammed almost single-handedly roused Africa to action over Southern African liberation with the famous Africa-has-come-of-age speech. Africa today begs for quotable leaders.”
Aremu said to beat the challenges of production and distribution in Africa, there was need for bigger economy of scale, which is only possible with economic integration and a United States of Africa.
