The name, Willis Carrier, might not strike a chord amongst even technology enthusiasts. But for every blast from an air conditioner that cools you from the scorching heat, you have him to be thankful to. Carrier invented the first modern electrical air conditioning unit in 1902. Since then, individuals and corporations have built on his brain child to make the world a ‘cooler place’-literally. It was no wonder therefore, that when Samsung Electronics recently organised an Air Conditioner forum in Lagos, about 180 people were in attendance.
The forum also doubled as avenue to launch the World’s largest capacity Digital Variable Multi- Super system AC which the company says has the world’s first and largest single capacity outdoor of 26 Horse Power. It is credited as the next-generation modular system in the world of high-efficiency air conditioning. These air conditioners come equipped with R410A gas, which is, eco-friendly and Smart Inverter compressors capable of reducing energy consumption up to 40% in line with global standards. The air conditioners can handle up to 50 metres in piping length as against the conventional 10 meters.
Speaking at the forum, Managing Director, Samsung Electronics West Africa, Mr. Brovo Kim said: “We want to keep our stakeholders abreast of the level of market research that goes into designing and producing Samsung air conditioners and cooling solutions, which are especially suitable for Africa and the Nigerian climate.”
Also speaking at the forum, Director, Consumer Electronics, Samsung Electronics West Africa, Mr. Sunil Kumar, said that Nigerians are astute customers who are always on the lookout for the best.” dual digital inverter system and a smart management system,” Kumar stated. Samsung also launched air conditioners with a 5 year warranty on compressors, keeping in mind the energy conservation and eco friendly standards being set in the air conditioning environment.
