Oba Akiolu: Ohanaeze demands apology

Lagos State chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo has called on Oba Akiolu of Lagos to “tender a widely-publicized apology to our people,” saying Igbo have the right to choose whoever they desire in a free and fair election.

The call was in reaction to the alleged threat issued by the Lagos monarch to anyone that does not vote for his preferred candidate in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

In a statement by Mr. Chibuzo Azubuike, State Secretary, Ohanaeze said: “Our peoples’ right to freedom of choice, movement, personal liberty, ownership of property is guaranteed under the 1999 Constitution and is not given by the whims or caprice of any individual or group.”
