BENIN—A House of Representatives candidate on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, for Esan Central/Esan West/Igueben Federal constituency in Edo State, Mr. Gideon Obhakhan, has alleged that he was brutalized by soldiers in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area.

The APC candidate alleged that he was beaten by the soldiers and made to sit on the ground in front of Ambrose Alli University, AAU, gate, while he was addressing protesting students.

However, the Army Public Relations Officer, 4 Brigade, Benin, Captain Abubakar Abdullahi, said: “I cannot comment without proper investigation into the issue you have just raised. We have, however, stepped up investigation into the matter.”
