Nigerian citizens in Zimbabwe have endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan for 2015 presidential elections.
The National President, Nigerian Community in Zimbabwe, Mr. Emmanuel Chukwudozie Abia told journalists in Lagos that Nigerians in Zimbabwe want President Goodluck Jonathan to be given another four years to enable him complete the good work he started. “Considering his performance since he became the President of the country, he needs another four years to fix the country properly because he inherited a long decayed system hence his transformation agenda”.
However, Abia advised Nigerians home and in diaspora to support President Jonathan come 2015.
According to him, President Goodluck has achieved a lot with the transformation agenda he introduced in his administration despite the Boko Harram insurgence which I see as a distraction some ungrateful people are using to discredit his good work.
“The bilateral relationship he is creating with other countries including African countries is part of what we are enjoying today in Zimbabwe. That is why I’m in the country to convey this message and seek more avenue to create this awareness.
“Again, look at the N220 billion SMEs loan scheme he introduced to boost operations of the SMEs in the country knowing fully well that SMEs are the engine growth of any economy anywhere in the world. That loan facility will go along way reducing unemployment in the system.
Abia said, Nigerians should not forget that the economy is rating high now in Africa despite all the distractions.
Speaking further, Abia said, the President’s involvement in youth empowerment in the country has repositioned many Nigerian youths including the Almagiris that were written off are now enjoying rehabilitation.
He asked Nigerian Independent Electoral Commission, INEC to make provision to enable Nigerians in diaspora vote in 2015 general election as it is done in the US, UK. Ïf INEC will act in that direction Nigerians in Zimbabwe would welcome that initiative and will be ready and happy to vote next year if considered.
