Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, Imo State Branch, has dragged Governor Rochas Okorocha and other state functionaries to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for alleged abuse of office.

Writing through their lawyer, Chief C.O.C. Akaolisa, ALGON, alleged “criminal conspiracy, abuse of office, stealing, misappropriation of public funds and the financial rot in Okorocha’s administration in ImoState”.

It was the considered opinion of ALGON that the probe of the Deputy Governor, Sir Jude Agbaso, has exposed the various schemes perfected by the present administration to unwholesomely divert public funds.

While stating that “this is done through phantom award of road contracts without any contract document”, ALGON wondered how a three-kilometer road would cost N1.2 billion as confirmed by the assemblymen.

After giving a rundown of all monies left by the Chief Ikedi Ohakim’s administration, members of ALGON alleged that “these funds were never appropriated in any budget of the state since taking over office and control of same”.

The local council operators equally told EFCC that the entire 26.27 billion have been squandered without the knowledge of Imo people.

They were also irked by what they termed “criminal violation of Imo State Bond Law and misappropriation of the N13.3 billion ImoState bond proceeds.
