Delta state women’s Volley ball team was outstanding Tuesday as it defeated Team Lagos in the semi finals of the ongoing Eko 2012 National Sports Festival.
The team won the encounter in three straight sets leaving some of the Lagos players in tears.
A member of the victorious Delta State team, Miss Ngozi Nwosu who spoke to our reporter said “the feeling is great. We feel so awesome and we knew right from the start that this victory is ours for the taking”
She continued further; “we are so grateful to our coach for bringing us this far, he really worked for us.”
Ogunkoya hopeful for team Ogun
Former Nigerian quarter miler and Olympic bronze medallist, Falilat Ogunkoya is hopeful Team Ogun would do well in track and field events of the 18th National Sports Festival tagged Eko 2012.
Falilat who is Team Ogun’s athletics coordinator was emphatic that her team would pick up medals in athletics.. “We are here to do our best and I hope our best will be good enough for medals. We are ready, like any other team,” she said.
Ogunkoya was particularly hopeful because she believes in hard work, an area she saidOgunStateathletes had been drilled on. “We have conditioned them and all of them are in competitive mood. I believe we are ready because I believe in hard work.”
