An FCT High Court sitting in Gwagwalada on Thursday ordered that a pregnant woman, Judith Patrick, be remanded in prison custody for alleged homicide.

Justice Balami M. Wada remanded the accused person following an application by the Police Prosecutor, Mr Umoh Inah

Inah had earlier prayed the court to take cognizance of the offence and remand the accused pending the conclusion of investigation.

According to the prosecutor, Patrick committed the offence at Kadukuchi in the FCT, an area within the jurisdiction of the court.

The prosecution added that the offence contravened Section 255 of the Criminal Procedure Code and that the punishment for the offence was death.

The judge granted Inah’s application and adjourned the case to September 19, when details of the offence would be heard. (NAN)
