Warri monarch dissolves community ruling council

BY Emma Arubi

WARRI—THE 13 – year-old Ugbuwangue Community Ruling Council in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, has been dissolved by His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse 11, the Olu of Warri.

The ruling council had been led by Prince Agindotan Yonwuren, for a long time, despite  agitations for change in leadership over the years.

Announcing the development before a crowd of Ugbuwague indigenes,  the Olara-Aja, Dr. Preston Egbe, said the dissolution  was long overdue.

The dissolution followed a meeting summoned by the monarch to address the unending leadership tussle in the community over the continuous rulership of  Agindotan and a chosen few, allegedly to the exclusion of other well meaning sons and daughters of Ugbuwangue.

Among those present at the meeting, where the dissolution was announced were Pa. Agindotan, Tosan Okorodudu, Dickson Ajanemiwa and French Kenu for the Agindotan group while Emily Okoromadu, Turker Newportwright, Peter Eburajolor and Omamuli led the opposition to the palace.

After listening to the arguments of both parties on the rulership tussle, the Olu of Warri gave the Olara-Aja two weeks within which to submit a comprehensive list of members to form a new ruling council.
