Following the training tour of the weightlifters billed to fly the country’s colours at the forthcoming London Olympics Games, First Vice President of the Nigerian Weightlifting Federation, Alhaji Mohammed Halilu has assured Nigerians that the lifters will win gold at the Games.

The former Nassarawa State Commissioner of Sports said that the lifters’ performance at the last African Championship will be improved upon by the training which will keep them abreast with the best present techniques and tools to fight favourably for gold medal.

“What is on our mind is to comeback with medals from the Games. With lifters in camp and their performance at the last African championship, I am convinced of a gold medal. The reason behind the Germany camping is to improve on the lifters’ techniques so they will be in a better position to compete favourable with their counterparts at the Games,” Halilu said.

It will be recalled that the lifters departed the shores of the country for Germany with seven lifters.
