THE reported endorsement of Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu(SAN) as the governorship candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria in Ondo State may have not received the blessing of all chieftains of the party as the South West leadership of the party declared that his nomination would still be put before the congress.
Until this is done, the zonal leaders of the party, said through National Vice Chairman, South West, Mr. James Kolawole that nobody can say the party has picked its candidate.
According to the leaders of the party, “the congress would be an affirmation and until that is done, nobody can say that a candidate has emerged. “Don’t let anybody deceive you, for anybody to be declared a governorship candidate, such a person must be endorsed by the party congress”.
He said the reports in some newspapers on the choice of the candidate should be disregarded, adding that the process of picking the gubernatorial candidate for the 20th October, 2012 election in Ondo State would not be concluded until 10th of next month.
Meanwhile, trouble was averted yesterday in Ibadan when some aggrieved members of the party from Ogun State stormed the venue of a meeting by the zonal leaders to protest alleged imposition of candidates for the local government elections.
This was extensively discussed and that internal party mechanism would be adopted in resolving the matter. He noted that such reaction should be expected in democracy.
