4th Lagos Mainland Bridge soon

By OLASUNKANMI AKONI

LAGOS – Lagos State Government has assured residents that the planned development of the Lagos fourth Mainland Bridge was still on course, and would be complemented with the unhindered on-going development of jetties along the same axis.

Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Dr. Hamzat Obafemi, who stated this during inspection tour of projects in Eti-Osa Local Government Area and environs, explained that all the developments were in tune with the inter-modal transportation plan of the government.

He noted that the state would soon become a giant construction works yard, expressing satisfaction with the work at various sites visited.

He said that the on- going litigation on the Osborne jetty site will not distract the state government from accomplishing the goals of water transportation, adding that that it was in the character of the administration to obey laws.

Hamzat said the bridge development had been concessioned,  while government was also promoting water transportation with a capacity of moving over four million people monthly in a more effective and efficient manner.

He noted that the completion of the Ipakodo, Badore and Osborne Jetties along with the rehabilitation of the Mile 2 and Oworonshoki would ensure that perennial traffic gridlock of the east- west travel axis was a thing of the past.
