Self relevance and importance

By Sunil Gupt

The most of  spiritual literature, spiritual guides and many multiple advices carry about self and self realisation. Let’s understand what is “self”? Self is individual consciousness, soul voice and guiding factor for each individual.

Now, the question arises what makes it different to each “self”? What is the role of self in our daily life and how does it protect us, etc. A wise person can relate his every emotions and act with his self. It is our shadow and carries with us on consistent basis. “Self” guides us to behave in various stages of life.

How many of us ask ourselves questions who is responsible for our happiness and misery? Can we be our own friend or enemy? Self trust is the first step to our success. Self determines our thought process, witness our self for enlightenment.
What about people who live without self realisation?

These people end up taking wrong decisions in most of the cases and assume that they are right and hold others wrong. Without realising their strength and weakness their consciousness level runs short in achieving appropriate decisions.
Once they live long with away from self, it becomes difficult to change them.

Generally they become victim of their lower consciousness featured emotions as jealous, anger, stress, negative thoughts, selfishness etcetera. They expect from others which they do not like to happen with themselves. This knowingly unknowingly accumulates negative deeds in their life and become cause for their misery and sorrow.

Many of them hesitate to interact with another person carrying a stronger “self”.  What makes us stronger? We can make ourselves stronger by having knowledge, attitude toward learning, softness in our behavior, respect to elders, unconditional love, gratitude, forgiveness, self reconciliation and witness our “self”. The person with the stronger “self”possesses the quality to deal with negative person with lower consciousness.

It works as filter and blocks us from negative thoughts to come in our thought process. It is involve in our universe. People with the stronger “self” know and understand it helps them live with a happy state of mind. Further it helps rectify their misdeeds in a short period of time. The self-realisation helps us to realise our God within.

Is it easy to upgrade our quality of self? It is difficult but feasible. In life, we live and interact with various people with different level of “self”. People with lower “self” prefer to move within same level of self and this restricts him to uplift.

Further they carry rigidity in their approach. They ignore all positive happening in their life due to their negative thought process and unhappy state of mind.  Suggestion: If you have a weaker “self”. As their thought process over the period ended in stress, anger, jealous, misery etc, remove or lift this self barrier to enable you learn more.

Ask questions about your “self” purpose in life and your objective. With this thought process, such persons are likely to differentiate between positive and negative, improve their state of mind and feel contended. Thereafter, rest corrective tools such as yoga, breathing exercises, meditation, good companionship, discussion, spiritual guide and good literature etc. helps a lot to improve our “self”.
