Herbal medicine may cause more harm than good, says Nephrologist
Abuja – A nephrologist, Dr. Habibu Galadanci has cautioned people on the use of herbal medicine.
Galadanci said in Abuja that although herbal medicine could be harmless, it could be injurious if not regulated, as in the case with many herbal medicines.
“Those herbs that are useful can have side effects that are quite bad especially if they are taken in large amount and when mixtures of different ones are used,’’ he said.
He urged people to routinely go for checkups as such could help in early detection of damage to the kidneys and other vital organs of the body.
“Don’t just desire to get a certificate of medical fitness; go for the checkup because that is the point where you can pick up early detection of damage to the organs in the body.
“These diseases are better and easily treated when they are detected early,” he added. (NAN)
